Privacy legislation was first introduced into Australia with the Privacy Act 1988. The latest legislation is a code of privacy practice which consists of ten National Privacy Principles (NPP) as set out in the Act. The full text of the National Privacy Principles is available from on request.
- Data Collection. We collect information from customers solely to carry out our order processing, customer servicing and marketing activities. Wherever possible information is only collected directly from the individual.
- Use and Disclosure. Generally, information is used solely for the primary purpose for which it was collected (order processing) or for a related secondary purpose such as customer servicing and marketing. Where we use information for direct marketing, we provide our contact details including the opportunity to decline any further marketing offerings.
- Data Quality We try to ensure your information is accurate and as up-to-date as possible by regularly reviewing customers’ details.
- Data Security All personal information is held under secure conditions with access restricted to only those individuals who need it to carry out their work duties.
- Openness The NPP requires businesses to have a freely available policy document outlining our information handling practices.
- Access and Correction It is our policy to give individuals access to their data on request, so that they may review and correct details. (Please note the NPP lists exceptions to this right, mainly where access to the information may impact adversely on the individual and as such we reserve the right to take reasonable steps to ensure that the person seeking access is the individual to whom the data relates or is otherwise entitled to access the data)
- Identifiers We do not use identifiers issued by Commonwealth Government agencies as Account Number identifiers.
- Anonymity We respect that individuals must be able to act anonymously where it is practical and lawful to do so.
- Trans-border Data Flows We have processes and checks to ensure data is properly protected when forwarded to our third party service providers. Your data is not sent overseas.
- Sensitive Information Information on race, ethnicity, political opinions, health, religion etc, is classed as sensitive information. We do not collect sensitive information.
